Brief history of the Château de Milleton
Many of our guests wonder what on earth we're doing in such a big home and ask us how we ended up here and what we do. Let me tell you...
Once upon a time there was a large and beautiful house on the Gascony moors, which was uninhabited for over forty years and almost in ruins. Forty years boarded up, rotting, falling down. Almost everything was in a state of neglect, damaged and dilapidated. However, it had at one time been a beautiful mansion. And despite the wear of time its beauty could still be seen, like a beautiful old woman who was twenty years old many, many years ago.
One day Dominique inherited this great, old and beautiful family home where he was born. A present with 600 squalid square metres, a dozen uninhabitable rooms, some 50 broken windows, 1 500 square metres of roofing full of holes, two or three hectares of overgrown gardens, and everything else in a very similar state.
So, we took the crazy decision to leave Lyon and return to Gascony to try to save and breathe new life into this beautiful mansion. We moved in with our children, dogs, cats, suitcases, boxes and dreams. We immediately started to rebuild everything that had fallen down, to repair everything that was broken, to cover back up everything that had become exposed, to put back up everything that had fallen off, ... We put all our time, energy, resources and enthusiasm into it.
And over the years the house once again became inhabitable, so much so that today we can welcome you, dear visitor. Our bed and breakfast project soon took shape. Be reassured, however, it will never become a hotel, just simply a home for friends and therefore for you.
